MEMORAIN are a modern heavy/thrash band from Greece, known for having Nick Menza (ex-Megadeth, R.I.P.) and Marc Reign (ex-Destruction) behind the kit, as studio members. They’ve also become known from the soundtrack of the long-running metal tv show in Greece called “TV War” (with the song of the same name). They also have a long history in making consistent records and gaining recognition in the genre.

Their new album “Duality Of Man” kicks in with “Demon’s Hunt” some fast paced Megadeth-meets-The-Haunted riffage and a really catchy chorus, setting the tone for the rest of the album. Mid-tempo devastation follows with “Guardian Knight” and its addictive chorus as well as lead stuff. Time to headbang with the staccato riffage of “The Giant” even bringing some Annihilator to mind.

Special guests on the next song “The Last Of Right”: Dave Ellefson (Megadeth) on bass, as well as Blaze Bayley (ex-Iron Maiden) on vocals, in one more Megadeth-meets-Annihilator mid-tempo track with a killer chorus. A lead melody reminiscent of later Kreator brings us “Inside My Eyes” a mid-tempo thrasher with a really groovy chorus. “The End Of Hope” is one of the most violent tracks, along with the first blast-beat of the record.

More groovy stuff follows with “Lost In Vain”, and the mid-tempo moshers “The Crescent” and “Broken Dreams”. The eerie clean guitar intro of “Since I Remember”, leads to a power ballad with a beautiful chorus. One of the most melodic and laid back songs of the album, with a really nice dual guitar harmony in the middle. Time to speed up things for the end with “The Final Message”, a mid-paced thrasher that would make Dave Mustaine proud of his legacy, including a great chorus once more.

Overall a great record, by a hard working underground heavy/thrash band.
