Deranged is a band that needs no introduction. Although Swedish they make great brutal albums without the melodies that Sweden is known for. And probably this is the reason why they are not so famous than other Swedish bands.
The EP is called “Morgue Orgy” and this title has said it all. These guys are brilliant with their music once more. And the title of the tracks also could give you a hint of what you should expect. Brutal and savage riffs from the start are what you will find, which are enhanced great by the growls of Anders Johansson. Yes this is the new band member that is introduced to us with this EP. And he passed the examinations so far.
We start by participating in a “Morgue Orgy” with the power intro exploding the speakers. Of course when you are a part of such an orgy there is no more you can do but scream. So the next one is a “Symphony Of Screams” that lies between Carcass and At The Gates. In this song you can listen to some melody. Well some lead guitar riffs have some of it in logical amounts for a brutal band. And then you can easily say that Deranged is a “Machine Built To Kill” that sends greetings from the gutters as the song says. “Hello From The Gutters” has great music on it that remind of Cannibal Corpse at the “Gallery Of Suicide” era. And then for a closure they offer us “Milk” (!). This S.O.D. cover song is there just to fill the space.
The only thing that alienates me in their production is that they also try to walk the path of slam. They do not enter fully to it but they try to get some elements in their music. So far they do it great for my taste. And there 20 minutes of my time passed listening to Deranged and made me more eager to listen to their next full length work.
