Old school Black/Thrash metal: One genre to bridge the vocals of early Black metal and the forceful elements of the Teutonic Thrash metal school and anti-christian lyrics. Some of the first Black/Thrash metal records were considered to be Slayer – “Show No Mercy“, Sodom – “In The Sign Of Evil“, Destruction – “Sentence Of Death“, Bathory – “Bathory” and Sarcofago – “INRI” not only showing their unconditional love for bands like the mighty Venom, but also ready to take the music they love one step further.

A lot of bands tried to get into the concept of the sound and make it great, with acts like the German Desaster setting themselves apart from the rest writing kick ass music. Greece never had something like that as intense and Slaughtered Priest seem to have come to fill in this gap in the local metal scene. After support acts to great extreme bands so far such as the Proclamation/Blasphemophager package and Gehennah, they come back with a new album called “Confess Your Sins “. I will confess mine: not having this band in my playlist before. Album starts with the anthemic “Speed Metal Attack” a melodic intro showing some Sepultura influence (remember the Beneath The Remains intro?) then to the Sodom/Destruction-esque yet extremely catchy riffage making the old school maniacs smile and the vocals somewhere between Angelripper and early Quorthon. Exactly what its title says.

Next is the title track, starting with tempo bass drum then into Black/Thrashing mayhem and a chorus screaming CONFESS YOUR SINS!, then into a midtempo/groovy Slayer-esque riff to end the song. The album continues to this tempo with “Order To Kill” showing both midtempo and fast tempo riffage with a Black/Thrash riff fading out. “Malicious Perversion” is another neckbreaker from fast paced riffage to midtempo thrashing for slow moshing at shows. “Nocturnal Occult Ceremony” starts with Heavy and tremolo picked riffage only to be followed by more kick ass Black/Thrash riffage and hints of Death metal vocals in the chorus. “Thrash The Witch” comes around in the same style ripping fast through the listeners ears, going through Death metal vocals over midtempo riffage and ending with a kick ass Black metal riff and a tapping fadeout. Clocking at a bit below the 6 minute mark, probably the longest song on the record and one of my personal favorites. “Bloodthirsty Pentagram Bitch” (gotta fuckin love that title!) starts off with a riff straight from the 90s Black metal era only played twice as fast bringing some Kreator-influenced riffing afterwards making it a concert must especially that little bass break playing the main riff is killer just before the final chorus. Moving to the last song “Demonic Terror” starting with backwards singing and then DEMONIC TERROR as sung by some demon maybe, followed by the listeners last chance to headbang hard to some top notch Black/Thrash metal especially that fuckin riff starting at 3:48 is lethal as hell itself. If I had one thing to say about this album is that it’s addictive.
You have to listen to it to believe it. LOUDLY!
