Another deathcore band which are from the USA. That is the description that suites the most for Wretched’s “Son Of Perdition”. I am sure that many will agree on this statement and many others will disagree. Yet I insist that this is true.

I cannot tell if there is something new and innovating in “Son Of Perdition”. This is modern deathcore with nothing to envy by any other band. Some could call them as a technical death metal band. That is true at some parts, but I believe deathcore is what they offer us. The outbreaks are clear and present and the sharp cutting riffs are welcomed too. Melodic and in a way technical and a bit of progressive guitar parts are there as well.

The intro track “Oblivion” is a great stepping stone for the upcoming first song of the album. “Imminent Growth” is the best track by far on this CD. This song has it all. If you listen to this one you must be more than happy and I believe that you have been given the whole taste of what Wretched is.

There are a three part instrumental called “The Stellar Sunset Of Evolution” that in my ears was totally out of point. On the other hand this is the different spot that Wretched have to offer. I have listened to it many times to make my mind on it. It is perfectly executed as a music piece, but I believe that it should fit on some other band better. Probably Opeth would come in your mind if you listen to this one.
The production of course it is crystal clear and the sound is absolute fantastic. The vocal parts are wavering from powerful screams to great low growls. What could you expect less from a deathcore band. Do not let me be misunderstood. “Son Of Perdition” is an enjoyable listening.

To be totally honest I am still confused with this CD. The first songs are really fine. Yet I do not know what else could I expect from Wretched. I will wait for their next strike to be sure.
