After one year this album has been remade. “Either Caesars Or Nothing” has been written before Fomento joined the forces of Coroner records. After that this album has been reproduced with a few changes and two extra tracks.
First time I saw the artwork and read the title, one picture has been drawed in my mind. Roman legions screaming and give oaths of loyalty to Caesar, by the listening of power/heavy/epic metal riffs. I was terribly wrong in the aspect of music. These four guys play metalcore with a lot of thrash elements, the vocals follow a basic tactic: scream till your lungs explode.
One thing that adds some points to Fomento’s latest work is the lyrics. The lyrics are inspired by the Roman History and some of the ideals that were believed back then. For example, the song “The Die Is Cast”. That band seem to have a big problem with all that fashion that was created by emo-core. They scream it, the believe it, they hate emo-core, they hate being a crybaby about things you dislike. I wont say which song is the ultimate anti-emo, I challenge you to find it!
Their music mainly reminds me of Slayer, Machine Head, Chimaira, Hatebreed and more. But the absence of guitar solos is obvious and leaves you a bit disappointed. I like the fact that they don’t base their music on countless changes in the tempo of their music, and can pass you the aggression that they have.
So far, so good.this CD will be a very good investment for the fans of Pantera and all the above mentioned groups, it is nice to be listened and something very good to bang your head with. But they lack in creativity, the songs do not differ a lot between them, and they have not something new to offer to the already saturated scene of metalcore.
To sum up, I would like to pinpoint that Fomento have passion and strength in what they do but they need something to make them rise above the other bands in their music genre.
