I really like this band. Coming from Turku in Finland, Torture Killer are truly American to their sound, as they remind us a lot to Six Feet Under mainly and Obituary in some ways. This is the third album of the band and maybe the best. It is so easy to listen to, as its duration is 29 minutes only.
Eight songs of groove, brutality and teaching how direct death metal should be played. This time they sound a little faster in some parts, something that don’t bother us at all. I happened to listen to it numerous times until now, its short duration helps a lot, but it is the quality that enables you to push the play or repeat button once again. Unfortunately, Chris Barnes couldn’t offer his vocal duties on this album also, like he did on ”Swarm!”, the previous album. But this is no problem, as the new growler of the band does his work more than good here.
I hope that with this release, the Finnish metallers will get what they deserve and it will be a new good beginning for them. I advise you to buy this record, in a time where many groups lack inspiration, Torture Killer seem to have found the right formula to produce something remarkable.
They may not be the most special band and their playing reminds a lot to other bands. But on the other hand, when was the last time you heard something so good from Six Feet Under anyway?
