There are many parody bands out there or just bands that don't take themselves too seriously. Lyricwise mostly. Acid Drinkers from Poland are a good case, Pasadena Napalm Division as well
Thursday night for the Greek metalheads, a difficult time for someone to be there, either working the other day, either due to the double soccer/basketball games that day, yet about 50-70 people managed to be there for the return of In Utero Cannibalism on stage after 6 years (them supporting Nile @ Gagarin 205).

New York hardcore legends MADBALL have entered the studio to begin work on their eighth full-length release, their first since 2010's "Empire". The band is recording basic tracks with Ken Susi (UNEARTH) at System Recordings in Grafton, Massachusetts. Additional recording will take place at Pinecrust Studios in Miami, Florida with Jonathan Nuñez at the helm. The CD will be mixed by Chris "Zeuss" Harris, who previously worked with MADBALL on "Legacy" (2005) and "Infiltrate The System" (2007). The as-yet-untitled effort is slated for a mid-summer release.
MADBALL's latest EP, "Rebellion", was released digitally in 2012 via The BNB Label, a brand extension of vocalist Freddy Cricien's Black N Blue Productions group. The six-song effort contained four new tracks and newly recorded versions of two cuts from the band's legendary 1989 seven-inch single, "Ball Of Destruction". The CD was recorded at Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersberg, Florida with producer Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL, CANNIBAL CORPSE, MORBID ANGEL).
"Rebellion" marked the first MADBALL recording with former UNEARTH and THE RED CHORD member Mike Justian, who had served as MADBALL's touring drummer for a couple of years.
"Empire" sold around 1,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 15 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
A brutal Death/Grind Saturday night lied in store for the ones present at 7Sins club to a really strong package full of young and promising bands of the scene. First ones to take the stage are the brand new Blessed By Perversion. Their EP "Destroy The Image Of God" is a kick ass Death metal release in the vein of Morbid Angel and Deicide with some Death/Obituary influence in the lead department. They were really energetic and made the crowd at the time headbang as hard as possible with their material (including a new song keeping up on the same path musicwise). Their frontman didn't forget to thank everybody in the audience for being there and especially Metalpaths.com for inviting them on this event. Everyone were pleased and some were proudly wearing their t-shirts at the end (the writer doing so at the very end of the gig!).
Without any further ado, Trigger hit the stage, the only non-Death/Grind band of the evening. With a sound close to bands like Soulfly, Machine Head and a bit of metalcore/NWOAHM they were really energetic and did a great show, even though it was a sudden change from the brutality of the previous and upcoming bands. I sincerely believe that not everybody was expecting that kind of band to be in that billing in terms of music style. It was a really good break from the brutal assault of the rest, truth be told, every one of us enjoyed them and gave them the applause they deserved.
Coming up next we had a more modern Death metal band called Alterself, somewhere in the style of early Death, Incantation but without a good sound to support their material. It's a pity since they seemed like a good case of a band. Great soloing from what I could tell, and brought the first pits into the show as well. A touching moment when they dedicated a new song to the grandfather of the one guitar player who passed away about a week ago.
Stuff got serious with Necrorgasm, playing a style of Brutal Death metal in the vein of masters Cannibal Corpse and Suffocation with gore lyrics and lots of crazy mood from an amazingly passionate frontman and solid guitar sound. We need more guys like him in the scene in general. Whipped the crowd into a frenzy and the first serious circle pits occured. Another band that came from the North of Greece, showing the guts to rip the stage apart. My respects guys.
"In Blood - Devour This Sanctity", the new video from Austrian death/ black metal metallers BELPHEGOR, can be seen below. The clip, which was recorded live in Moscow, Russia on October 6, 2013, was filmed and edited by Andrey Kovalev.
Commented BELPHEGOR guitarist/vocalist Helmuth Lehner: "What a brutal concert, extreme, obscene and memorable.
"For the new video, I decided to take 'In Blood – Devour This Sanctity' with visual live sequences from the Moscow ritual. Authentic and insane. One of my fave tracks in a live situation. Musickwise inspired by 'The Hungarian Dances' by the classical composer Johannes Brahms (1833-1897). You also find there all BELPHEGOR trademarks. Shredding guitars, fast drums and heretical grunts. Enjoy!"
BELPHEGOR's new album will be released in May 2014 via Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2011's "Blood Magick Necromance" was recorded in part at Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida with producer Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL, MORBID ANGEL, CANNIBAL CORPSE).
Songtitles set to appear on BELPHEGOR's new album include "Gasmask Terror", "Rex Tremendae Majestatis", "Take Her, Lucifer!" and "The Inverted Cross". The cover artwork will be created by Greek artist Anthon Siro Seth, who previously worked on BELPHEGOR's "Pestapokalypse VI" album in 2006.
Florida-based death metal veterans MALEVOLENT CREATION have finished mixing a brand new song called "Corporate Weaponry". The track, which is currently being mastered by Eric Koondel, will be made available — along with the previously released new cut "Face Your Fear" — for download on iTunes and other online outlets within a few weeks. A full-length album will follow next year.
"Face Your Fear", which can be streamed below, was recorded, produced and mixed at drummer Gus Rios' studio, Riversound Productions, except for the vocals, which were laid down with Jim Nickles at his Shredly Studios.
"This is only one song of many Phil [Fasciana, guitar] and I are working on," Gus Rios toldDecibel back in August.
"We are still debating how we are going to go about releasing new music.
"For a band like ours, with 11 albums and more than 110 songs, it's just not making sense to record 10 new songs. We are thinking (still not 100%) that doing EPs might be the way. That way we can concentrate on writing five really good songs and play them all live as well.
"We don't want to be a band that has to rely on its past. We want to write songs that are good enough that people will want to hear them live, as well as the 'classics.' And realistically, we would only do about five songs off of any new album anyway due to the extensive catalog."
Regarding how MALEVOLENT CREATION has managed to retain its musical identity after going through so many lineup changes over the course of the last 20 years, Gus Rios told Rádio Evil: "Since 1997, pretty much every single MALEVOLENT CREATION song anybody's ever heard, me and Phil [Fasciana, guitar] actually wrote. I live in Fort Lauderdale, and so doesPhil, and that's the songwriting nucleus of MALEVOLENT. So as long as the two of us are still in the band, it's always gonna sound like MALEVOLENT CREATION, you know what I mean?! That's the consistency of the band — the primary songwriters. And then, of course, Brett[Hoffman, vocals]."
MALEVOLENT CREATION's latest album, "Invidious Dominion", was released in August 2010 in North America via Nuclear Blast Records (in Europe through Massacre). The effort was made available in various territories as a regular CD; digipack with bonus material; and vinyl LP.
"Invidious Dominion" was recorded at Mana Recording Studios (CANNIBAL CORPSE,VITAL REMAINS, GOATWHORE) in St. Petersburg, Florida with producer Erik Rutan (MORBID ANGEL, HATE ETERNAL, CANNIBAL CORPSE). The CD's cover art was created by renowned artist Pär Olofsson (THE FACELESS, IMMORTAL, ABYSMAL DAWN).
Six Feet Under is a band that needs no references. Everybody knows them and their leader Chris Barnes. His lyrical work and his vocals on a band called Cannibal Corpse are written in history with big letters.
