Report: Slayer + Support Acts – Athens, Greece

It was 1st of July. A new festival that we truly hope and wish to be established and continue in the future was about to begin. By arriving at Plateia Nerou where the festival took place, I got amazed by the wonderful sea-side place having the historically Averof ship in the background just opposite from the live-stage. Definitely one of the most beautiful places for an open-air festival that I have been before! But let’s get to the chase! When we arrived Kvelertak were already on stage and we should have missed the first two tracks. If you read Metalpaths.com you definitely know our sympathy for the Norwegian. Second time in Greece, they had enough audience and gave their best to rock the fuck out under the hot sun. Erlend was plowing the stage up and down spitting his guts out in every song while he also didn’t afraid to do stage-diving! Playing songs from both their two albums they had overall a good appearance with only negatives the sun and the not that good sound. It’s time for Napalm Death to hit the stage and the British need no introductions. I was really expecting their appearance cause I haven’t seen them before (how the fuck did that happen?). However I couldn’t enjoy the show and unfortunately I can’t even describe it because I would injustice the Napalms. It started to blow and that had as a result a really bad sound which in comparison with some technical problems

Interview: Nader Sadek / Rune “Blapshemer” Eriksen

Nader Sadek: The all-star Death metal band that made a great debut album "In The Flesh" 2 years ago and released the DVD "Living Flesh" some time ago. Metalpaths had the chance to talk with Nader Sadek himself (lyricist) and Rune Eriksen (a.k.a. Blasphemer, ex-Mayhem guitarist) about this release and the band in general...by John Savvidis Hello Nader! You are well known for being the live show partner of Mayhem over the past years. So tell us more on how you alongside with Rune "Blapshemer" Eriksen, Flo Mournier (Cryptopsy), Steve Tucker (ex-Morbid Angel) and Novy (ex-Vader) met and decided to form a band under your name: Nader Sadek That's the problem and the biggest misconception of this porject, this wasnever a band. Unfortunatley it had to be marketed as such. However, there is no band by the name Nader Sadek. Nader Sadek is just me, the project starter, if you will, among many other things of course, the whole project was my vision. I had picked each musician for a very specific reason. At first all the musicians were skeptical as they were at the time not fans of each others bands.

PHILIP ANSELMO: ‘I’m In A Great Place In My Mind’

Dr. Abner Mality of Wormwood Chronicles webzine recently conducted an interview with Philip Anselmo (DOWN, PANTERA) about the upcomingHousecore Horror Film Festival, the singer's lifelong love affair with horror and his upcoming solo album. A few excerpts from the chat follow below. Wormwood Chronicles: Putting something like [the Housecore Horror Film Festival] together cannot be an easy thing. What are some of the logistics of putting together an event like this? Anselmo: That's a very interesting question. I think a lot of things are still in the works. We're trying to work with numerous sponsors on it. Don't get me wrong, we've got a lot of questions to be answered...and asked! But we do have commitments from a lot of amazing, over-the-top shit that I would have never fuckin' figured. We've got directors like Coffin Joe from Brazil. As a matter of fact, I was just on tour with DOWN in Brazil and he came out to the show and we met. He brought me these priceless fuckin' autographed posters and books and stuff like that. So he's committed to coming down and he's bringing some never-before-seen artwork that he's done, certain crazy films that I've never even

MALEVOLENT CREATION To Release New Song As Free Download

"The new MALEVOLENT CREATION is gonna be pretty different than the last album, which [we] always think is good for bands. "This album is gonna be way fuckin' HEAVY!!" Regarding how MALEVOLENT CREATION has managed to retain its musical identity after going through so many lineup changes over the course of the last 20 years, drummer Gus Rios told Rádio Evil: "Since 1997, pretty much every single MALEVOLENT CREATION song anybody's ever heard, me and Phil [Fasciana, guitar] actually wrote. I live in Fort Lauderdale, and so does Phil, and that's the songwriting nucleus ofMALEVOLENT. So as long as the two of us are still in the band, it's always gonna sound like MALEVOLENT CREATION, you know what I mean?! That's the consistency of the band — the primary songwriters. And then, of course, Brett [Hoffman, vocals]." MALEVOLENT CREATION's latest album, "Invidious Dominion", was released in August 2010 in North America via Nuclear Blast Records (in Europe through Massacre). The effort was made available in various territories as a regular CD; digipack with bonus material; and vinyl LP.
