An underground band will be the concept of today's review: Accuser from Germany. Massive fans of German Thrash metal will remember them for "The Conviction" (1987) and "Who Dominates Who" (1989) records that were well received by the fans but as a band never gained the popularity of Thrash partners in crime such as Kreator, Sodom or Destruction.
Backbeat Books has set a September 10 release date for "Reinventing Metal - The True Story Of Pantera And The Tragically Short Life Of Dimebag Darrell", the unauthorized PANTERA biography from U.K. authorNeil Daniels.
Official book description: "PANTERA is widely regarded as one of the most influential and revered American metal bands of the past 20 years. Although its output was relatively short — from 1983 to 2000 it released only nine studio albums — its impact on the metal scene since the band split up in 2003 is still felt to this day. Guitarist Dimebag Darrell was tragically killed in 2004 but his legacy remains undiminished.
"PANTERA had an enormous influence on nu-metal, groove metal, metalcore, and grindcore and continues to be publicized and written about. Its 1990 breakthrough album 'Cowboys From Hell' is still regarded as one of the greatest metal albums in history, as is PANTERA's sixth opus, 'Vulgar Display Of Power'.
"The new MALEVOLENT CREATION is gonna be pretty different than the last album, which [we] always think is good for bands.
"This album is gonna be way fuckin' HEAVY!!"
Regarding how MALEVOLENT CREATION has managed to retain its musical identity after going through so many lineup changes over the course of the last 20 years, drummer Gus Rios told Rádio Evil: "Since 1997, pretty much every single MALEVOLENT CREATION song anybody's ever heard, me and Phil [Fasciana, guitar] actually wrote. I live in Fort Lauderdale, and so does Phil, and that's the songwriting nucleus ofMALEVOLENT. So as long as the two of us are still in the band, it's always gonna sound like MALEVOLENT CREATION, you know what I mean?! That's the consistency of the band — the primary songwriters. And then, of course, Brett [Hoffman, vocals]."
MALEVOLENT CREATION's latest album, "Invidious Dominion", was released in August 2010 in North America via Nuclear Blast Records (in Europe through Massacre). The effort was made available in various territories as a regular CD; digipack with bonus material; and vinyl LP.
Set for release this month via Plexus Publishing is the book "Cemetary Gates: Saints & Survivors Of The Heavy-Metal Scene" by Mick O'Shea.
A description of the illustrated paperback reads as follows: "Between genius and madness, this world and the next, there's nothing but the faintest flicker of a pulse and the cemetery gates.
"Packed with as many egos as one book can hold, 'Cemetery Gates' is the read that takes you inside the minds of the most twisted icons of heavy metal."
