A preview clip from “Behind The Music Remastered: Thin Lizzy” in which the members of THIN LIZZY reveal why Ricky Warwick was chosen as the band’s new lead singer can be seen below.
In October 2012, THIN LIZZY made the announcement that they would not be recording new material under the THIN LIZZY name. They admitted that this was “a very difficult decision” that was made “out of respect toPhil Lynott and the legacy he created.”
In a statement, THIN LIZZY guitarist Scott Gorham acknowledged that he had mixed feelings about the prospect of releasing new music under theTHIN LIZZY moniker, which in turn led to the formation of BLACK STAR RIDERS.
“We have written 20 songs that we all feel very strongly do the band andTHIN LIZZY name credit,” Gorham said, adding that “we believe Philwould have been proud of them.” He continued: “We always knew a new record was a touchy subject with some people and as such really want the quality of these songs to be heard by everyone without any judgment or prejudice.”
According to a press release, drummer Brian Downey decided to not become involved with BLACK STAR RIDERS because he didn’t want to commit to the touring cycle a new album would entail and keyboardistDarren Wharton wanted to concentrate on DARE and other music and film projects.
