Back in 2007 in Greece, a group of three people (Panagiotis Karagiannidis, Rena Koutsou and Costantinos Giarmadouros) decided to build up their own independent-yet professional page which would be dedicated to their biggest passion of all; music.
From the first day that Metalpaths got into the conversation table, our hope of achievement was to succeed involving every metal subcategories (from the all time classics to the new and rising blood) and we finally made it thanks to our editing team.
Metalpaths went finally on line in spring of 2008 under WordPress platform as an extensive portal website with heavy metal daily news, interviews, album reviews, live reports, tributes and a bunch of other interesting columns. Septicflesh, Nightrage, Shatter Messiah, Anathema and At The Gates were the first artists featured in our website.
Our thirst and passion for Metalpaths quickly raised it’s popularity for good, making it one of the most famous heavy metal websites in Greece while Blabbermouth’s republications of our interviews made us known worldwide.
Throughout years, Metalpaths had the honor to interview some of the most legendary personalities of heavy metal music such as Rob Halford (Judas Priest), David Coverdale (Whitesnake), Yngwie J. Malmsteen, Dave Lombardo (Slayer, Grip Inc, Philm, Fantomas, Testament), Chuck Billy (Testament), Joe Duplantier (Gojira), Dale Crover (The Melvins), Max Cavalera (Cavalera Conspiracy, Soulfly, Sepultura), Blackie Lawless (WASP), Martin Axenrot (Opeth), Donald Tardy (Obituary), David Vincent (Morbid Angel), Mille Petrozza (Kreator), Anders Olbrich (Blind Guardian), Tommy Victor (Prong), Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed), Andreas Kisser (Sepultura), David Ellefson (Megadeth) and more.
Our success had as a result to integrate us in music industry more than ever starting to cooperate with some of the biggest heavy metal record labels, concert promoters and festivals in Europe. We started to organize official release parties for the presentation of new albums such as Ozzy Osbourne’s “Scream”, Graveyard’s “Lights Out” and Outloud’s “We’ll Rock You To Hell And Back Again” just to name a few and that’s how we started being active not only on the web but on the road as well! Our 3 years anniversary parties in both Athens and Thessaloniki with special guests Gus G. (Firewind, Ozzy Osbourne), Sakis (Rotting Christ), Alan “Nemtheanga” Averill (Primordial), Marios Iliopoulos (Nightrage) were unforgettable while the first live show of Year Of The Goat in Greece, organized by Metalpaths made history.
2015 marks the beginning of a new era in history of Metalpaths. Conceiving our strengths and weaknesses and after numerous difficulties throughout the years with several crew, server and design changes, Metalpaths reborns from its ashes featuring some really BIG changes this time. Improvement was always a big deal for us and we are not afraid to change.
So, on January 20th 2015, we launched a brand-new website with modern design, new columns and a blasting new logo praising the German thrash-masters Destruction! Leaving back the old-fashioned, chaotic-sized, portal-structured website, we decided to make a more minimal, user-friendly and blog-style website changing our format and functionality for good.
Since May 2016, Manos Spanos is no longer a part of the crew. Manos joined Metalpaths in the very beginning of the website in 2008 and also was a chief editor from 2013 to 2016.
On November 26th 2016, a new layout revealed for the website while Metalpaths TV also launched!
At the moment, Panagiotis Karagiannidis is the chied editor of Metalpaths. Panagiotis has also decided to pick up his pen and start writing again.
