To be honest, most of reunions are done for money,
without having any specific reason, without even respecting the fan and his money. Fortunately The Crown does not belong to  this band category. Well, The Crown reunion is a fact, consisting of all original members except Johan Lindstrand (vocals),who was replaced by Jonas Stålhammar (God Macabre, Abhoth, Macabre End, Utumno (Swe), Bombs of Hades, Darkcreed, Space Probe Taurus, The Colombos) accompanied by a new album called “Doomsday King”

Although, The Crown has never caught such attention like other Swedish Death Metal Bands, they always were and are a respectful band distinguished by quality and faithful crowd among the Melodeath/Thrash genre. After 4 successful albums “Doomsday King” is here to complete the glory throne, as they have never disappointed with their releases.

First of Foremost Jonas Stålhammar, does really suits the band adding more anger, aggression and chaos in The Crown’s music (fuck you all who don’t approve the band’s selection. Do you think they are so immature for such an action and selection? ).Moreover I have to give credit to Janne Saarenpää who really rapes the drum kit and also to Marcus Sunesson and Marko Tervonen for writing these numerous fantastic groovy riffs in every single song.

“Doomsday King” is absolutely fantastic. The first same titled song catches you from the neck, breaking it in million pieces, while it makes you smile and understand what is in the continuity. Moreover, “Angel Of Death 1839” ensures the first positive reaction, as the first scream and the aggressive thrash tempo makes you to ram your nails in your head. Furthermore,” Age Of Iron” is the identity song for this album, showing us why they are from Sweden and ensuring their genetically  Melodic Death Metal roots, all these accompanied by a great long solo. In Addition, “The Tempter And The Bible Black” creates a really cold atmosphere coming from the Swedish forests for sure, under the sound of some hypnotic repetitive riffs.

More to add, ”Soul Slasher” is the living proof why Jonas really does a great job with The Crown as his screams are really great spitting pure misanthropy. While “Blood O.D” creates you the need to mosh and tear everything in frond of you as you listen to some great blast beats and crushing riffs, “Through The Eyes Of Oblivion”(favorite album song) is here to finish you and your neck of course. And yes Magnus Olsfelt  is a great bass player feeling
this drumming orgasm is the best possible way !!.

“Desolation Remain” takes you back in the Melodic Death Metal era of the 90’s hellyeah , as the vocals adopt a black metal style. ”From The Asses I Shall Return ” (the album’s longest track) travels you far away making you understand the the CD is going to end because of the fact that the sound is constantly peaking again with great solo. “He Who Rises In Might -From Darkness To Light” is the cherry in cake as does not even leaves a single second of the album to lost, without a not and an aggressive riff.

Taking everything into consideration,  “Doomsday King” is a great release having all these things  a true fan of  the genre would demand. I wish more reunions where like this one in the future.
