Am I supposed to tell you what Vader really means not only for death metal, but also our beloved music in general? Not at all, forgive me but there is no need in doing this. I am so small to even think of presenting to you what they have done for about three decades, from the days of the ”Morbid Reich” demo until now, that they released their new album called ”Necropolis” and once more they give a great lesson to all.
A lesson of how a great band can compose memorable songs, putting together brutality, heaviness, direct playing, great production, convincing vocals and gathering all these, they unleash them in 33 minutes where we are all left speechless and just witnessing the masters paying their dues to us all. It is really amazing that this formula Peter has, does not get ruined at all after so much years and releases.
This time the album is nearer to the ”Revelations” and ”The Beast” touch, rather than the previous one ”Impressions In Blood” which really was a fast one with blasting rhythms and a more brutal feeling like the ”Litany” days. I could state that this could be Vader’s right move in the right moment, songs that get to your mind easily and not tire you at all. In addition, they can blow you off and make you wonder where this rage came from.
This is of course not the best, nor the worst album they have done. I guess they have no worries about such opinions at all, they have reached a status in metal history that once they split up, will refer that the Polish band was one of the most honest that was always giving their fans works full of quality, making changes where needed in order not to become common, but still after all holding their basic elements of their music.
Death metal fans will not discover the new America with ”Necropolis” for sure, but if you all want something to pass the time quick and with pleasure, I recommend it strongly. The limited edition includes two fantastic cover of Venom’s ”Black Metal” and Metallica’s ”Fight Fire With Fire”. Including these, raise in your hearts the rating I am providing to the release without them.
