Circling around their previous releases HG flirt with depressive doom metal with some insertions of Gothic metal in the likes of gothic metal coming from the late 90s. Beautifully grey soundscapes and mysterious orchestrations complete the rather black canvas of their musical palette.
Having the starting point of early Katatonia’s music, they unveil a modern version of their forefothers and let’s say their colleagues. Blending the modern Tiamat and October Tide their sound is so unoriginal but yet so personal and unique. And there’s only one thing that separates them from the rest. The use of 70s keyboard sounds here and there that give them a more personal sound and a somehow more personal identity.
This is not about being copycats or anything like it. It’s for being in a same pathway and stepping into some same holes to find your way and both marking your own path as well! Productionwise, on another hand, it really is well done and the sound is almost amazing in its own way! Crystal clear and dynamic as it suites the music!
To sum it up, I’ll have to say, I needed time to get it right in my ears and my mind. Since though, I’m really font of bands like Daylight Dies, Rapture, Slumber, October Tide etc… this album just can’t be missed by anyone really into this kind of music. Atmospheric doom forever!
