Grindcore have a lot of bands dealing with perversion and gory stuff. And of course there are many which they are exploring to such subjects with a great amount of humor. One of these bands is the following. Cliteater is their name and if you just take a look to the title and the cover artwork of the album you will understand what I am talking about.

For listening to this album and reading this review, you must be over 18 years old. The parental advisory would not be enough. “The Rim King” and “Handy Handjob Hannah” are two song titles that you can guess easily to what they are referring to, and this is not the only reason to keep children and people with weak heart away. As the band states they are loyal to the clits, they drink beer and smoke hand-rolled tobacco and they eat meat fanatically! So anyone that is opposing these ways of lifestyle probably the best thing to do is stay away.

I think you get the idea of their lyrical themes. Murders, blood, boozing and perverted fetishes are just a few of what they are dealing with. All of them are typical issues of the grindcore genre.

So what Cliteater have to offer us musically? Well that is a question that can be answered easily as they introduce themselves as grinding deathrock band. Is there something you don’t understand on this statement? What “Cliteaten Back To Life” is? It is a great grindcore album. We have great rhythms on the drums and guitars. Sometimes they are fast and chaotic and then again a lot of groovy stuff.  The guitars have the appropriate sick distortion and as well the bass has it too. The guitars on some parts are having a lot of rock ‘n’ roll elements. If you listen to the solo on “Seth Putnam Paid Our Cab Fare” (a tribute to the long gone founder of Anal Cunt?) you’ll see what I mean.

“The Beast” and “Furry Fandom Fetish” are two good examples of the chaotic elements on this CD. These songs with “Redneck Rampage” and some others are also leaning to the slamming brutal death metal style. But the best specimen on the chaotic nature of these guys lies on the appropriately named “Positive Aspects Of Collective Chaos” in which there is a bridge of reggae music (!). At last but not least we have the great vocals of Joost with slamming piggish growls and pitched screams that bind to the music perfectly.

So if you ask me again about buying this CD I shall give you the OK. But then again if you are sensitive to issues such as porn, perversion, blood and dark humor you better stay away.
